NZR CA class hopper wagon
The NZR CA class hopper wagons were introduced in 1986. They were a major improvement on the previous iteration of coal hopper wagons, the C class of 1969, which were an all-steel design. The CAs have an aluminium hopper and steel chassis. 32 wagons were built. The next iteration of coal hopper wagons was the CB class of 1987.
Over the years, the fleet has been through a number of changes, including:
Tarpaulins
Covers over the ends of the wagons
CAU - urea hopper wagon (6 wagons)
CG - grain hopper wagon (18 wagons)
The design is available in S (1:64), HO (1:87) and NZ120 (1:120) scale, designed to be used with NZR type 16A bogies.
End stanchions and handbrake detail are also included.
Measurements (lwh):
HOnz: XXmm long x XX wide x XX high
Designed by Pegasus Miniatures, produced by 3 Foot 6 Models.
